Lee Jorgensen, Assistant Trainer

Lee started riding at the age of 5. After taking school horse lessons and leasing a couple of horses, she owned her first horse at the age of 14. As a working student, Lee learned a lot about riding and horsemanship. After a couple of years as an assistant, she was fortunate to get a job as Stable Manager for the U.S. Equestrian Team under Jack LeGoff. She also worked for Mike Plumb and Bruce Davidson, two prominent USET riders, and was coached by Kevin Freeman, another excellent rider who was on several Olympic U.S. teams After a strong education in eventing she became the head instuctor at Lake Oswego Hunt Club where she and her students competed successfully both in eventing and at hunter-jumper shows. During that time, she was invited to two USET training sessions. After returning from the east she set up her own training business in 1983. In 1990, she decided to concentrate on the A circuit hunter-jumper shows where she and her students were quite successful. She traveled from Indio, California to British Columbia to the prestigious Spruce Meadows show in Alberta, Canada with her horses and students. Lee believes in patient, steady training for both horses and riders, making sure the basics are well-established before advancing to the next stage. She is very happy to be able to be a part of the Stone Hedge Farm team.
